300mm Fab Equipment Spending
Headed for $227 Billion by 2029
SEMI’s latest 300mm Fab Outlook sees 31% growth this year and a
deep pipeline of new fabs, with the Americas more than doubling its
equipment investment by 2029.
Global 300mm front-end fab
equipment spending will reach
$149 billion in 2026, up 31% from
last year, and keep growing at
double-digit rates to $227 billion
in 2029, according to SEMI’s latest
300mm Fab Outlook, released at
SEMICON West (FIGURE 1).
After this year’s jump, SEMI
expects growth of 16% in 2027, 12%
in 2028 and 18% in 2029.
“Semiconductor demand is
increasingly translating into
physical manufacturing expansion
across the global industry,” said
Ajit Manocha, SEMI President and
CEO. “The latest outlook points to
both stronger equipment investment
and a substantial pipeline of fabs
moving toward operation. This
expansion will provide the manufacturing foundation needed to support
AI, high-performance computing
and a broad range of next-generation
semiconductor applications.”
The spending is backed by a
steady stream of

Three Finalists Vie for
2026 Best of West Award
SEMI and Semiconductor Digest have named three
finalists for the 2026 Best of West award, which recognizes new products and services that significantly
advance the electronics manufacturing supply chain or
a particular manufacturing capability. The winner will
be announced on Thursday, October 15, at 1:00 p.m. on
the Smart Theater stage in the North Expo Hall, Lower
Level Hall F. The finalists are:

Ganymede Dry Pump — Booth 633
Ganymede is Edwards’ next-generation dry vacuum
pump for the harshest semiconductor processes, built
on a completely reimagined platform that combines a
high-efficiency powertrain, a new pumping mechanism
and an extensive sensor network. Fabs have traditionally had to choose between rugged Continued on page 3
